Picture yourself driving on the road to work. It’s rush hour and you have to get to work. What do you do? Do you get angry? Road rage? No, you calmly turn on your portable essential oil diffuser that you have sitting in one of your cup holders. You are prepared! You have already put in your favorite de-stressing oils in ready for whatever happens during your drive. You have your coffee in one cup holder and your diffuser in the other. The perfect setup.
Which essential diffuser is it that lets you diffuse your oils on the go and in the car like this?
Portable Essential Oil Car Diffuser
The one I recommend is sold by Innogear on Amazon. It’s a plugin USB diffuser that fits in your cup holder. You can actually diffuse it anywhere you have a USB connection such as while you are working on your computer or laptop. Just like other diffusers that change color, so does this one.
It’s the perfect size for traveling and diffusing in the car. It holds 50 mL of water and will shut off automatically when water levels get low. Instead of the button being on the bottom side of the diffuser, it’s on the top for easy access when you are driving. Just reach down and push the button to turn it on or off. It fits most car cup holders like this.
This particular portable essential oil car diffuser uses only a USB plug to power it. You can easily plug it into any computer or laptop with an available USB 3.0 port. This may not work with older computers that still have the older USB 1.0 or USB 2.0 ports. For the car, you’ll need to purchase a USB adapter with an output of 5 V and at least 1 A such as this one.
Now, this one does provide the 5 V of needed energy output, but that’s when you are only plugging in 1 device. So if you are using this to run your diffuser, then you have to hold off from also charging your cell phone at the same time. So, if you aren’t running your diffuser, you can actually charge two different devices with this adapter. You can charge both your smartphone and tablet at the same time with this one.
Please refer to this dilution chart when diluting your essential oils. It is recommended that you dilute any essential oil that you use regardless of brand. Essential oils are strong and very potent and many can and do cause skin sensitivity, especially with children.
Plant Therapy has this awesome dilution chart you can reference.
For babies, dilute at 0.5% or even 0.25% (half of the 0.5% amount. So, use 3 drops of your essential oil and dilute it in 4 teaspoons of carrier oil for 0.5% or 8 teaspoons of carrier oil for 0.25%.
Use the 1% dilution ratio for daily use. Mix 3 essential oil drops for every 2 teaspoons of carrier oil.
If you need a stronger dose for a short period of time, use the 5% dilution ratio by adding 15 essential oil drops for every 2 teaspoons of carrier oil.
For really, really severe situations, you can up it to 10 percent dilution ratio for small acute areas of concern. For this, you would mix 15 essential oil drops for every teaspoon of carrier oil.
Recommended Essential Oil Brands
Because essential oils have therapeutic properties that make them so useful in our lives, you want to make sure that the essential oils you purchase are pure and contain all of the healing components that you are looking for. Unfortunately, there are some unscrupulous companies out there that sell diluted oils or even fake oils that will do you harm if you use them for therapeutic purposes.
The companies that I recommend and who consistently receive positive reviews on their essential oils are these:
